Roger Federer Mirka Vavrinec Married in Basel, Switzerland!

Indeed a Happy Easter Day for Roger Federer and Miroslava “Mirka” Vavrinec, his girlfriend of eight years. Tennis great Roger Federer and Mirka Vavrinec are now married! In a post on his website, Federer announced he tied the knot with Vavrinec in a quiet ceremony at his hometown in Basel, Switzerland, Saturday.
“Earlier today (April 11), in my hometown, surrounded by a small group of close friends and family, Mirka and I got married. It was a beautiful spring day and an incredibly joyous occasion. Mr. and Mrs. Roger Federer wish all of you a Happy Easter weekend. Love, Roger.”
Roger Federer, 27, currently ranks the world’s No. 2, behind Spaniard Rafael Nadal. He is the champion for 13 Grand Slams so far but never won on a French Open. Any of the winner in this year’s remaining three Great Slams (French, Wimbledon and U.S. Open) could lead Federer to tie American tennis great Pete Sampras’ 14 titles.
Bride Miroslava Vavrinec, 31, was born in Bojnice, Slovakia. Vavrinec’s family emigrated to Switzerland when she was 2. Starting playing the tenis from nine, she once ranked among the top 100 women’s player during her reigh. Vavrinec and Federer met in Sydney when both of them represented Switzerland to compete at the 2000 Olympics. They will become the new parents this year. Last month, Federer announced Vavrinec was pregnant (baby bump picture) with their first child and her due date was in the Summer.
