Update: Karen Cunagin Sypher was indicted Tuesday May 12, 2009. Karen Sypher, 49, faces a combined maximum penalty of seven years in prison and a $500,000 fine if convicted of the two charges–trying to extort money from Rick Pitino and lying to the FBI, Associated Press reported. She  is scheduled to be arraigned on May 19.

Karen Cunagin Sypher is $10million Rick Pitino extortion woman. In an FBI complaint filed April 25 at a US District Court in Kentucky, Karen Cunagin Sypher was revealed to attempt to extort as much as $10million from University of Louisville men’s basketball coach Rick Pitino among a series of other demands including college tuition fee for her son, two cars, paying off her house and $3,000 in cash per month. The extortion was originated from an encounter of Karen Cunagin Sypher and Rick Pitino in 1993 which was not specified in the affidavit, earlier internet rumors said Karen Sypher and Rick Pitino might had a sexual relationship. Karen Cunagin Sypher, 49, did not enter a plea at a court appearance Friday and was released on her own recognizance, AP reported.
