“Suicidal” Jayson Williams Tasered, Hospitalized, Being Psychiatrically Evaluated

Jayson Williams, the troubled ex New York Nets’ star, was tasered and then transferred to a hospital for the psychiatric evaluation after he appeared “suicidal” and “violent” at a Manhattan hotel earlier this morning. From New York Daily News
Ex-NBA star Jayson Williams was Tasered by police Monday morning in his
Manhattan hotel room after the troubled former hoopster became suicidal and violent, police sources said.Williams, a charismatic New Jersey Nets center who stood trial for shooting his chauffeur, was taken to St. Vincent’s Hospital for a psychiatric evaluation, sources said.
Police were called to the Hilton Embassy Suites in Battery Park City at 4 a.m. after hotel officials described a disturbance in Williams’ room, the sources said.
An aggressive Williams, 41, trashed his room, forcing Emergency Service Unit officers to subdue the former All-Star with a Taser gun, sources said.
Williams “appeared suicidal,” a police source said. It was not immediately known if he injured himself or if he was armed.
According to TMZ, Jayson Williams may be influenced after taking prescription drugs or having became boozed:
Sources say the original 911 call was made by a female friend of Williams at 4:28 AM, who said prescription drugs or alcohol were a factor.

Any time a black male is suicidal he should be left alone. Sounds like it was just a cowardly gestureand he didn’t even have the physical courage to check himself into a clinic.
