Meet Jasmin Villegas, the American teen R&B singer and actress of Filipino and Mexican origin.  Jasmin Villegas, whose voice can be compared to singers like Alicia Keyes and Whitney Houston, has eight released singles on her official Myspace site as of May 2009. She’s a Damon Dash Artist under Mosci Music Management.

Jasmin Villegas, aged 15, is hailed from San Jose but now based in Los Angeles. She became one of the most searched celebrity on Google the day after she sang the national anthem Star-Spangled Banner before the much hyped boxing match between Filipino boxer Manny “Pacman” Pacquiao and his British counterpart  Ricky “The Hitman” Hatton in MGM Grand Garden Arena on Sunday, May 2. At 15 years old Jasmine Villegas doesn’t look like a diva. But that changes as soon as the girl who stands 4 feet, 11 inches tall and weighs 90 pounds – grabs a microphone and unleashes a voice that could rival the greats. The San Jose native has been wowing crowds across the country as she prepares for a promising career that’s ahead of her. Now based in Los Angeles at the heart of the music scene, Jasmine’s defined sound has been compared to such celebrated songstresses as Alicia Keyes and Whitney Houston.

Having never taken a voice lesson, Jasmine’s natural vocal flair will only blossom as she continues to perfect her craft. Jasmine, who has been home-schooled since the third grade is also the focus of a television show. It’s still in the development phase, but those around her – some of whom call her “an angel with an old soul” –see the girl’s charisma taking her to places others haven’t seen.

Jasmine has been seen and heard singing the National Anthem for Los Angeles Lakers, Los Angeles Clippers, Miami Heat, Sacramento Kings, Anaheim Angels, Los Angeles Dodgers, Los Angeles Kings, Golden State Warriors, Winky Wright vs Jermain Taylor boxing fight, Paul Williams vs Antonio Margarito boxing fight, the PGA Tour. She recently sang the National Anthem for the Manny Pacqueao vs Juan Marquez title boxing fight in Las Vegas in which the anthem was broadcasted live on PPV reaching an audience of more then 100 million viewers.

Jasmine began touring at the age of eleven and has done over 200 shows in the last 18 months. She has performed for educational school assembly programs across the country. At such a young age, Jasmine is an extremely seasoned performer. She has also worked with LA’s Best, a non-profit after school program to perform at 100 elementary schools in the Los Angeles Area. She also works closely with other children’s non-profit organizations such as Big Brother Big Sisters, Boys and Girls Club of America, Special Olympics, and Aspira Foster Care.

Her youthful ambition and undeniable talent have taken Jasmine into other creative arenas. She has been featured in print advertisements for Target National, Mary Kate and Ashley, American Girl, Levi’s, Hilary Duff, Robinsons May, Macys, Mervyns, Girl Scouts, Sparklets Drinking Water, Kohls as well as principal roles in television commercials for Chevrolet, The Dog, Kellogs, Zellers, Marshalls, and McDonald’s. Jasmine has also made guest starring appearances on Disney’s “That’s So Raven,” Touchstone Pictures’ “My Wife and Kids” starring Damon Wayans, and she has also gone on to become Ms. Hawaiian Tropic and Ms. Royal Essence. She has recently finished shooting a pilot for a Disney sitcom “House Broken”, a spin-off of Disney’s The Suite Life of Zach and Cody, starring Brian Stepanek. She also has a reoccurring role on the ABC’s primetime show “The Nine”, and a guest role on the television series “Threat Matrix”. She has also been featured in Kanye West’s music video “ Jesus Walks” and Frankie J. ‘s “How To Deal”.

    This is so sad. Compared to Whitney Houston and Alicia Keys? The only thing that can compare her to Alicia Keys is her image. Whitney Houston? What’s wrong with people’s ears. Have they all gone tone deaf? Her range is medium, off tune at times. You people make it seem as if she is an amazing star. But trust me, when there are other kids getting famous, she will have competition. Especially with that voice shes getting through puberty.

    How can you, ignorant fool, say she has anything on Charice Pempengco? Its so SAD what people think is talent nowadays. That girl has TALENT. She can SING. She has HEART. And this girl.. the thing you hear – THE MOST – is,”You are beautiful! You are so pretty! I love your hair!” If she was so good, she should be getting all of those based on her voice, not her looks. What a loser and a fake.
