Kris Allen’s Apologize performance was very mediocre, but his Heartless performance catapulted him to be the star of the night. Simon Cowell said he had literally written Allen out of AI’s competition but changed his mind after his Heartless rendition. Before this, Randy Jackson said Kris Allen had sung better than Kanye West.
