Christine Marinoni, an education activist, is to marry girlfriend, Sex And The City actress Cynthia Nixon once the same-sex marriage becomes legal in New York. Christine Marinoni and Cynthia Nixon have been engaged since April. Nixon announced her engagement to longtime girlfriend Marinoni at the Love, Peace and Marriage Equality (or Action= Marriage Equality) rally on Sunday in New York City.
Speaking at the rally in mid-town Manhattan which was held to support Gov. David Paterson’s proposed bill that would legalize same-sex unions in New York, Cynthia Nixon told the crowd: ‘It’s time already….
‘Does me and my girlfriend getting married have any effect on you and your wife, or you and your husband sitting at home?
‘I often hear the campaign to legalise same-sex marriage is an attack on traditional marriage and I wanna say you are not the ones being attacked, we are.’

Christine Marinoni proposed to Cynthia Nixon with a diamond engagement ring last month. They would tied the knot in New York if the bill is passed. Nixon said last year, “I don’t really want to get married to get married pretend. I think we’d like to do it in a real, actual, legal way that the state would recognize.”
Christine Marinoni, 42, and Cynthia Nixon, 43, met at an education fundraiser in New York City in 2003 and began dating since 2004. At the time, Nixon had ended a 16-year long relationship with English professor Danny Mozes, with whom she had daughter Samantha (14) and son Charles Ezekiel (6). Nixon, who played powerful lawyer Miranda Hobbes in the Sex and the City movie and TV show, officially come out the closet in 2005. Nixon and Marinoni live in Brooklyn together with her two children
In April 2008, Nixon received an award from the Point Foundation, which provides scholarships to gay students in the U.S., for being a role model for young gay people. The same month, in an interview with Good Morning America, Nixon announced for the first time that she battled breast cancer, after being diagnosed during a routine mammogram in October, 2006.
Cynthia Nixon is set to reprise her role alongside Sarah Jessica Parker, Kim Cattrall and Kristin Davis in the Sex and the City film sequel which is scheduled to be released on May, 28 2010.
