Claudia Mejia Edwards picture

Claudia Mejia Edwards, a mom from Florida, has settled a lawsuit with a local healthcare system she sued for the compensation for her flesh–eating bacteria-caused damages. Claudia Mejia Edwards, 27, of Sanford, contracted flesh-eating bacteria after she gave birth to her son Matthew at South Seminole Hospital in Longwood in April, 2005. Because of infecting streptococcus, she couldn’t be discharged from the hospital after delivery labor. Days later when she was transferred to Orlando Regional Medical Center,  doctors had no choice but amputate all four limbos of Claudia Edwards in order to save her Life. As a result, she could never hold her newly born baby. In January, 2006, Edwards sued the Orlando Regional Healthcare Systems. The case has just been settled in this week, with the concerned authorities agreeing to pay Edwards an undisclosed amount of money. We say, Ms. Claudia Mejia Edwards is definitely deserved for that money. No matter how much money Claudia receives, as a quadruple amputee, she will always have a life challenged by the inconvenience inflicted by the amputation.
