A Chinese woman survived a suicidal jump from the 27th floor of a high building one week ago. Ms. Chen, who suffered postpartum depression since giving birth two years ago, jumped at a height of about 80 meters from a toilet window of Century Plaza in Ningbo City, eastern China’ Zhejiang Province on June 4, 2008.
The 29-year-old woman, from Cixi City, miraculously survived after she brushed with tree boughs before finally landing on the roof of a red Mazda 6 car which was parked there just 10 minutes ago. Luckily, her back not head hit the car first, or else…. She was treated for lung injuries and left leg fractures at a hospital.
Netizen shuyouliang, calculated if Ms. Chen had directly plunged into the ground she’d have experienced an impact of around 8000kg force, in this situation, she had no hope to survive. No wonder many Chinese internet goers joked Ms. Chen set a new record in the history of China’s High-rise suicidal jumping.
Chen’s luck caused the loss to the driver of the crumpled Mazda. It was said Ms. Yu (see bottom photo) borrowed the “life-saving” car from her friend. The issuance company said they could not make a full compensation because it was not a traffic crash accident but an unexpected incident that was not covered by the issuance terms.
Anyway, Ms. Yu, who first burst into tears when seeing her car damaged from a picture taken on a diner’s handphone in a restaurant still expressed a relief, “It’s still worthy, after all the car saved one’s life.”
