Mechelle Cartwright, also Mechelle Mcnair, wife of Steve Mcnair (photo here), could not cheer on the joys the Fourth of July brought in. Instead, the Independence Day in 2009 was probably the most tragical day in the life of Mechelle Mcnair. Her husband Steve Mcnair, former NFL Pro-Bowler and Co-MVP, was found shot dead at another woman’s condominium he frequented in downtown Nashville, Tennessee.

Mechelle McNair, also Michelle Mcnair by some, married to Steve Mcnair, an Alan State University alum, in Mississippi June, 1997. Jockbio.com Steve Mcnair biography article noted their wedding was attended by more than 1,500 people, making it one of Mississippi’s biggest social events of the year.
Michelle and Steve had four sons together–Steve Jr., Steven, Tyler, and Trenton Mcnair. It’s unclear if the marriage of Mechelle and Steve had problems or not. But the clues may be found in today’s reports, as the unnamed woman died along with Steve Mcnair was described as his girlfriend (who has been identified as Sahel Kazemi, 20).
When Steve shot dead news first broke out, Mechelle McNair mistakenly identified as the female victim in the doubling shooting murder by WSMV which later withdrew the wrong report according to Lalate.
