Amanda Rodrigues Gatti, 23, is the wife of Canada’s former boxing champion of Arturo Gatti, pictured above. Amanda Rodrigues Gatti now is a suspected murderer of Arturo Gatti, who was found slained in Dorisol hotel at about 6am on Porto de Galinhas beach, Pernambuco of Brazil Saturday.
Amanda Rodrigues’s full name is Amanda Carina Barbosa Rodrigues. Amanda is a Brazilian national. There is no words on when Amanda Rodrigues (picture left) married with Arturo Gatti, 37, the retired boxer hailed from Montreal where he had two building estates. Even though blessed with a 10-month old son Arturo Jr., Amanda Rodrigues and Arturo Gatti’s marriage wasn’t free of bumps. According to MontrealGazette, earlier year Rodrigues called 911 to say that Gatti hit her. He was charged with assault and released on bail. He was ordered to stay 200 metres from Rodrigues, abstain from alcohol and have no weapons.
Maybe trying to resurrect the problematic marriage, Arturo Gatti and wife Amanda Rodrigues went to vocation at her native country for “the second honeymoon.” Unfortunately, Arturo was murdered there.
Former boxing champion Acelino Freitas, a close friend of Gatti, revealed yesterday Gatti and his wife were having problems and were about to split up after the slaying.
According to AP, that police were told the pair were extremely jealous of each other and that he constantly complained of her clothing when she traveled to Brazil.
Amanda Rodrigues became the prime suspect and was taken into custody in the city of Recife after she gave contradictory information to the police when questioned on her husband’s unexpected death. She couldn’t explain how she did not know Arturo was already dead while she was in the room for 10 hour.
A blood-stained strap of the purse which susposedly Amanda owned was found on the scene. The purse strap was believed to have been used to strangle Aruto Gatti to death. Apparently, Aruto also suffered injuries at the back of his head.
Rodrigues is innocent until she is found guilty.
