Just posted an entry on Hunan province of China, here is one more. A tourist visiting Furong  Town in western Hunan snapped two photos of a man in red tee carrying a gigantic bighead carp stranded on his bamboo packbasket using the nylon strings. It’s not clear how the man caught the fish or wether he just bought a bountiful catch.

Furong Town, along with Zhangjiajie’s Phoenix Town, is among the four renowned ancient towns in the western Hunan. Furong Town, where Tujia ethnic minority  people lived since the Empiror Qian era, was originally called Wangcun. It was changed to the current name after the late director Xie Jin’s film with the same name in 1986 Furong Town co-starred by actors Liu Xiaoqing and Jiang Wen. Before 1986, Furong Town’s annual tourism income was about 20,000 Yuan but now is catapulted to a staggering 200,000,000 Yuan, a 100,000 times increase. The historical and scenic town is famous for its local specialty, “rice tofu,” another compliments from Xie’s movie.
