Roman Polanski was arrested! The 76-year-old acclaimed but controversial French-Polish director was arrested September 26 by the Swiss police when he was entering the country to attend the Zurich Film Festival for accepting a lifetime achievement award.  Roman Polanski was convicted for raping a 13-year-old girl in 1977 in USA but he managed to flee to France (and since remained at large) before he got sentenced. A bit details from Wikipedia on Polanski’s statuary rape case:

In 1977, he was arrested in Los Angeles and pleaded guilty to “unlawful sexual intercourse with a minor”, a 13-year-old girl. Polanski was 44 years old at the time of the crime. Released after a 42-day psychiatric evaluation, Polanski fled to France. For decades, he was considered by U.S. authorities to be a fugitive from justice. Polanski for many years avoided visits to countries that were likely to extradite him, such as the United Kingdom. However, on September 26, 2009, he was arrested by Swiss police on arrival at Zürich Airport while trying to enter Switzerland to attend the Zurich Film Festival, at the request of United States authorities. Prior to his arrest, he travelled mostly between France, where he resides, and Poland. As a French citizen, he was protected by France’s limited extradition with the United States.

TMZ said there was no date yet set as to when or if he will be extradited back to the U.S..

Kazemi not only broke the law but also violated the doctrine of the Baha’i faith she followed, which prohibits the followers from having drinks containing alcohol.

Joyce DeWitt DUI Arrest–Actress Joyce Anne DeWitt was arrested for driving under influence in El Segundo, California on July 4. DeWitt was most famous for her role as Janet Wood on the television comedy Three’s Company during late 70’s and early 80’s.

Joyce DeWitt was stopped at 4:19 p.m. Saturday when she drove around a barricade at Pine Avenue and Sierra Street near the city’s annual fireworks show, El Segundo police Sgt. Dan Kim told to Contra Costa Times.

Joyce DeWitt’s spirits for watch a spectacular fireworks show was ruined when her black sports car was pulled after a police officer observed she was driving with signs of possible alcohol intoxication. DeWitt was given field sobriety tests and then arrested for suspicion of DUI. See the left picture of her mugshot .

The 60-year-old actress was cited and then released on $5000 bail in the early hours of Sunday, July 5

Keith Wright, of the Bronx in New York, was arrested over disrobing on a US Airways jet on the evening of June 30. The 50-year-old man who was said to suffer from a bipolar disorder took off his clothes and got naked mid-flight during US Airways Flight 705 from Charlotte to Los Angeles. Keith Wright was asked by a flight attendant to put his clothes back on but he refused and even punched and kicked the stewardess. Wright was subdued and handcuffed by two off-duty law officers who were also on the flight. When Flight 705 was diverted to New Mexico’s Albuquerque International Airport for an onboard medical emergency, Keith Wright was arrested and taken into custody by Albuquerque airport authorities. He was charged interfering with flight crew members and attendants. (more…)
