Veronica Lario, Silvio Berlusconi’s wife, is considering to divorce from the Italian Prime Minister for his apparent interest in younger women, reports said on May 3.

According to Dailymail, Veronica Lario, born as Miriam Raffaella Bartolini, seeks for divorce because she’s ‘fed up of seeing him with young girls.’
“I am going to ask for a divorce. I want to do the right thing – I cannot stay with a man who surrounds himself with minors.” Italian newspapers La Repubblica and La Stampa quoted Lario as saying.
Veronica Lario, 52, has retained a lawyer to begin divorce proceedings against the 72-year-old husband Berlusconi.
“‘I want to draw the curtain but I want to do it properly and without any fuss.” Lario reportedly told her lawyer.
Veronica Lario, a former actress, is the second wife of Silvio Berlusconi. Veronica and Berlusconi met in 1980 while she was appearing in a play in Milan called The Magnificent Cuckold – at one point during the performance standing on stage topless, Dailymail said.

They subsequently developed a relationship when Berlusconi was still married his first wife Carla Elvira Dall Oglio. Berlusconi’s first marriage ended in a 1985 divorce. Lario married wih him in 1990 after the couple became parents of three children, daughters Barbara (24), Eleonora (22) and son Luigi (20).
Since she was wed to Berlusconi, Lario lived in a low key public life. She was seldom seen accompanying her husband at official meetings but was well known to have publicly expressed opposite political opinions against Berlusiconi.
In January 2007, Lario said her dignity was damaged after Berlusconi, then 70, told former topless model Mara Carfagna who is now his Minister for Equal Opportunities, “If I weren’t married I would marry you immediately” and another “With you, I’d go anywhere”. The incident was calmed down after Lario received a public apology from Berlusconi.
While again in last month, Veronica Lario was infuriated by Silvio Berlusconi’s intention to select several beautiful young starlets for the European elections in June. She lashed out against him, calling his idea as ‘shameless trash.’

The patience of Veronica Lario to be Berlusconi’s wife finnally vanished after the Italian press reported that her husband bought a diamond and gold necklace to the daughter of one of his business/political associates in Naples, Noemi Letizia, for her 18th birthday. Noemi Letizias called Berlusconi “papi (daddy)” at her birthday party while Berlusiconi signed a dedication in her book saying: “To my little Noemi, my little graphic artist, your little daddy teacher.”
“That surprised me. Because he never attended the 18th birthday parties of his own children, even if he was invited.” Lario said of Berlusconi’s attendance of Noemi Letizii birthday.
“She divorces him for the same reason she married him.” Robert of Vancouver, wrote in a comment on Times Online.

Update: MSNBC: Peeved Berlusconi wants his wife to apologize
The top editors of Corriere della Sera and La Stampa wrote in Monday’s editions that they spoke with Berlusconi, and the premier is feeling bitter about Lario’s revelations that she wants to split.
“Veronica will have to publicly apologize to me. And I don’t know if that will be enough,” Corriere quoted Berlusconi as saying,
The Milan daily says when it asked Berlusconi if he was thinking of patching up the couple’s nearly 30-year-long relationship, the premier replied: “I don’t believe so. I don’t know if I want to this time.”
We guess, Veronica Lario most probably would not make an apology.
