Portugal’s Economy Minister Manuel Pinho has resigned after making a rude cuckold gesture at an opposition MP.

Mr Pinho placed his index fingers on his head, imitating horns.

The gesture was directed at Bernandino Soares, leader of the Communist parliamentary group, who had challenged the government about a mine’s future.

“This was just an episode. One that shouldn’t have happened and that affects the government’s image, but which has now been corrected this way [with Mr Pinho's resignation],” he said.

Traditionally the horns signify a man whose wife is unfaithful.

Mr Pinho had been questioned about his handling of talks at the troubled Aljustrel zinc mine in the south of Portugal.

Portuguese Economy Minister Manuel Pinho resigned after making an offensive gesture at an opposition MP during the state of the nation debate in parliament on Thursday.

Pinho placed his two index fingers above his head, a sign representing two horns which in Portugal means calling someone a cuckold, while looking at the leader of the communist parliamentary group, Bernandino Soares.

Soares said he had made a remark about Pinho’s handling of the troubled Aljustrel mine in southern Portugal, but added the comment did not merit such a reaction.

Prime Minister Jose Socrates said: ‘Nothing justifies this gesture and it’s not admissable. This should not have happened. The minister is conscious of how this affects the image of the government. So during the debate he communicated his desire to resign and I accepted it.’

TLC reality show Jon and Kate Plus 8 poppa Jon Gosselin is not the only one hit by the infidelity rumors, mama Kate Gosselin is too! Kate Gosselin was rumored to have affairs with her bodyguard and family friend Steve Neild! So who is Steve Nield? My stupid question, of course he is Gosselins’ bodyguard and close pal. How does he look, hunky? Maybe, but we have no idea, as the information regarding to him is extremely scarce. Nield became one of the most searched people on Google today, we think, it was simply because he was mentioned in an entertainment weekly. Yeah, Kate Gosselin is taking a preemptive measure in an attempt to dispel the allegation of her cheating on husband John Gosselin by having extra-marital relationship with Steve Neild. She spoke to People:

“The next story coming out from the animals that stalk us is about our security person and his family. Already the allegations they’re making about me are disgusting, unthinkable, unfathomable, and I am horrified.”

“These are people [Steve Neild and his family] who absolutely love us and want to see us through to the end. Of course, both of them travel with us at times, and we’ve spent holidays together, because, in this situation, your circle grows smaller and smaller, and it’s very natural to become friends with your manager, your publicist, your security team … they’re the only people you have left. And now they’re coming under fire.”

“I’m totally panicking, and thinking, ‘We are going to lose our last set of friends.’ I keep calling them, begging, ‘Seriously, I’m so sorry. Don’t run away from us.’ They keep saying, ‘We’re fine, we’re fine.’ But they have paparazzi in front of their house. It’s so upsetting.”

“We opened our world to this but we willingly made a conscious decision to put this out there. Our friends and family did not. I had no idea we would potentially take down the people that we love around us.”

“It’s like saying, ‘Thanks for your support, let me sic the paparazzi on you.’ It’s very very difficult. It leaves us, essentially, alone and friendless. It’s terrible. ”

“The scary thing for me is [the tabloids] are going to take information and create a story. It’s a matter of, ‘When will they stop?’ They’re going to keep going, and they’ll make up stuff to connect the dots.”
