US Navy’s amphibious ship USS New Orleans and submarine USS Hartford collided at Strait of Hormuz March 20, according to the reports. Here are pictures of the USS Hartford and USS New Orleans which have collided! The collision happened at about 1 a.m. local time in the strait between Iran and the Arabian Peninsula whey they were on regular security operations. There were no causalities though fifteen soldiers aboard the Hartford were mildly injured (and returned to duty already). According to CNN, the nuclear propulsion plant on the 362-foot-long submarine Hartford was not damaged, but the New Orleans suffered a ruptured fuel tank which resulted in an oil spill of approximately 25,000 gallons of diesel fuel. The Friday’s accident caused the oil price to rise, AP reported.
