First Lady Michelle Obama was likened to be a gorilla in a comment by South Carolina Republican Rusty DePass on Facebook, June 12. From Mirror on America
According to FITSNews, former State Senate candidate Rusty DePass made a comment on Friday on the Internet site Facebook, describing the escaped gorilla at Riverbanks Zoo as an “ancestor” to First Lady Michelle Obama.
The comment was made after Trey Walker, an advisor to SC Attorney General Henry McMaster, posted a Facebook update about the escaped animal at the zoo. DePass posted a comment stating, “I’m sure it’s just one of Michelle’s ancestors – probably harmless.”
Rusty DePass has since been come under fire, and he had withdrew the comment (see a screen grab below).

Rusty DePass apologized, but saying Michelle Obama herself once made a similar comment. From New York Daily News:
…DePass told WIS-TV in Columbia, “I am as sorry as I can be if I offended anyone. The comment was clearly in jest.”
Then he added, “The comment was hers, not mine,” claiming Michelle Obama made a recent remark about humans descending from apes. The Daily News could find no such comment.
CNN also said that doing searches using Google found no any results of Michelle Obama having said anything about humans descending from apes.
In another case, Late Show host David Letterman was also under fire after he joked last Monday Alaska Governor Sarah Palin’s daughter had been “knocked up” by Alex Rodriguez in the seventh inning on his talkshow. Letterman apologized, but apparently Palin’s supporters were still unsatisfactory, they set up the FireDavidLetterman.com website and are making a Fire Davide Letterman campaign.
