The information about Tye Strickland is scarce. He is known to be 28 years old and a Dallas insurance agent. Strickland has dated Melissa Rycroft on and off for two years.
According to The Dallas Morning News, Tye Strickland popped the question at Brio Tuscan Grille in Southlake, Texas. The newspaper said he presented her girlfriend with a ring in a box featuring its own internal lighting. Parents from both sides were among about 20 guests attending the impromptu engagement party.
Melissa Rycroft, 24, is a former Dallas Cowboy cheerleader. Rycroft gained the fame after she attended the last season of ABC’s The Bachelor. She was first proposed on the hit reality show’s season final by Jason Mesnick in March but dumped on the special episode of After the Final Rose. She received a flood of support from many TV viewers who scolded Mesnick for his switching love to Molly Malaney.
Melissa Rycroft gained even more populity when she later replaced Access Hollywood reporter Nancy O’Dell on the eighth season of Dancing with the Stars, another ABC’s hit reality show, after O’Dell withdrew from the competition due to an injury sustained during pre-season practice.
Rycroft and partner, professional dancer Tony Dovolani finished third on the show’s season finale on May 19, 2009. It was said Tye Strickland was omnipresent during her DWTA stints. They were seen publicly stepping out as a couple on Us Weekly’s Hot Hollywood party in April.
