Steve Marples Lymphoedema Left Leg Pic

Lymphoedema is a swelling developed to limbs or body due to the accumulation of lymph after the drainage routes of lymphatic system become blocked or damaged.

Steve Marples, a guy from Sheffield, is suffering this condition which has caused his left leg double size of his right one. Marples found his left leg was noticeably larger than the right one ten years ago. But as Lymphoedema is a rather rare condition, he was only diagnosed with the disease recently after a series of misdiagnoses.

The 33-year-old needs to take daily antibiotics in a bid to prevent the tissue infection cellulitis which has already caused him to be hospitalized for a few times. He is now responding well to treatment and the swelling has reduced by a third and he hopes he will see further reductions.

Marples’s fellow nation Mandy Sellars suffers an even rare condition called Proteus syndrome. Two of her legs weighing 92-98kg out of total body weight about 130kg.

Best wishes to  these two Britons!

Geely GE China's "Little Rolls-Royce"

Chinese automaker Geely Holding Group Co. Ltd launched a luxury conceptual car Geely GE (General Excelence) on Shanghai Motor Show. Geely GE bears a striking lookalike of British’s branded Rolls Royce Phantom, so Chinese media dub it as China’s “Little Rolls-Royce.” While Geely boss Li Shufu boasted Geely GE “will be the manifestation of the highest level of world’s auto industry” to the Chinese press, Dailymail is reporting Rolls-Royce company has already been considering taking legal actions against the fake Rolls-Rayes maker. Update: Emma Watson confirmed to Paste Magazine she’s going to attend Brown University and study literature. Excerpts:

Paste: You are off to University in the autumn.

Watson: I am—to Brown, which is an Ivy League establishment in the U.S.A. I’ve got a place there to read literature.

Paste: Was that a deliberate career choice?

Watson: Oh yes, very definitely. I hope to do quite well with my A Levels [she’s being modest—she achieved straight A’s in her chosen subjects, English literature, geography and art, as well as seven A’s and three A* at GCSE level] and they’ve provisionally accepted me, so I’m off to study.

Paste: … some of your fellow students are going to recognize you.

Watson: That’s inevitable, I suppose, some of them must have seen the films over the years. But I do hope that it will be only a short time before I am known as “Emma Watson, the student from the U.K.” rather than “Emma Watson who starred in those Harry Potter films.”

Update: During an interview with Teen Vogue in June, Emma Watson tried to keep her choice of the university as a secret.

“I just want to keep it private [my college choice] for as long as I can. I probably sound like a paranoid nut, but I’m doing this because I want to be normal. I really want anonymity. I want to do it properly, like everyone else. As long as I don’t walk in, and see, like, Harry Potter posters everywhere, I’ll be fine.”

But her Harry Potter co-star Daniel Radcliffe spilled the beans to the Guardian in early July she would indeed go to Brown University

“[Emma's] very clever. Do you know her GCSE results? (bulges eyes) I was thrilled with mine – seven Bs, two As and an A*. I think Emma got three As and seven A*s – she’s incredibly academic, it’s frightening. Me and Rupert [Grint] to all intents and purposes dropped out of school. And she’s going to Brown.”

Harry Potter star Emma Watson reportedly has chosen to study at Brown University (website) in Rhode Island.

“She looked at universities over here (England) but fell in love with Brown (in US). She has a lot of friends there.” a source told to News of the World. (more…)
